New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is designed to assist students in making a positive adjustment to the college environment and university life. Research suggests that attending an Orientation program will increase a student’s graduation success. Lamar University also offers a Family Orientation which provides the perfect opportunity for parents and other family members to meet members of the LU administration and staff as well as become better acquainted with LU policies and procedures; gain valuable information regarding financial aid and police security. Family Orientation is a separate program from the New Student Orientation Program, but will run simultaneously on the day of the orientation.

**Orientation Fees - New Student Orientation: $50.00 Family Orientation: $25.00 (Orientation fees are non-refundable)
Please note that you must pre-register to attend a New Student Orientation session. Reservations for all orientation sessions must be received at least 1 week prior to the desired orientation session and space is limited in each session.
Students that have not met all Texas Success Initiative requirements and have not provided proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination or exemption will not be able to register for classes. For more information please contact Admissions 409-880-8888.

Week of Welcome
Week of Welcome (W.O.W.) is an extension of New Student Orientation and continues the acclimation process for new students. Academic and social events welcome the new students to campus and also provides an opportunity for them to meet other Lamar students. Food, scholarships, and other give-a-ways are available so you wouldn’t want to miss these events.
