Applications are being accepted for Order of Omega National Greek Honor Society through Friday, February 28, 2014 by 5:00 pm. Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Minimum of 3.0 previous semester and cumulative GPA.
Must be a full-time Junior or Senior student at Lamar University.
Must have completed one-full year within Greek chapter that is part of Greek Council.
Must be in good standing with respective chapter.
Additionally, candidates should have exhibited strong leadership within their chapter, council, and the Greek community.
Order of Omega, an honor reserved for the top 3% of the Greek Community, seeks to recognize outstanding fraternity men and sorority women who have attained a high standard of leadership and scholastic achievement.
The Induction Ceremony Order of Omega is to be announced. Details of the event will be provided to the honorees in advance. Also, the Inductees will be honored at the Greek Council Awards Banquet, date to be announced. The Office of Student Organization Services is proud to announce that we have funds to assist chartered/registered organizations in facilitating their programming efforts. There are some revisions in the Co-Sponsorship Guidelines, application, and proposed budget form; please review them thoroughly. If your organization is interested in requesting funds, please submit the application, a budget and general statement about the event as well as additional materials describing the purpose of the event, the conference registration fee and hotel rates. The Co-Sponsorship funds are offered on a first come, first served basis to student organizations who submit a complete packet at least two weeks prior to the event. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE 2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR:
* All student organizations requesting co-sponsorship funds must be chartered, registered for the new academic year and have a Student Clubs Bank Account in the Office of Student Organization Services. All checks received for co-sponsorship are deposited in a Lamar University student organization account.
The Committee on Student Organizations passed a new mandatory Co-Sponsorship requirement on March 20, 2013 that stipulates: Effective Fall 2013 any registered and chartered Lamar University student organization requesting co-sponsorship funding must complete at least 10 hours of community service prior to receiving co-sponsorship funds. Failure to complete and document required community service hours with the Office of Civic Engagement will result in denial or cancellation of requested co-sponsorship funding.
